Thai coffee chain Café Amazon ceased operations in Vietnam as of November 18, bringing an end to its five-year presence in the country.
Inside Retail noted that employees at Café Amazon outlets shared farewell photos on their final day of work. The brand has returned its store leases, and its outlets no longer appear on popular food-delivery apps in the market.
The move follows Central Plaza Hotel Public Company Limited (Centel)’s withdrawal from the Café Amazon joint venture in Vietnam last month, reflecting a strategic shift in response to the country’s fiercely competitive coffee market.
While Café Amazon has announced plans for global expansion, Vietnam is not among the target markets. The company has yet to release an official statement regarding its exit.
