Hong Kong-founded food chain, Itacho Sushi, has closed all its locations in Singapore without explanation.

The widely-reported closures come after all four of the company’s locations; in Ion Orchard, Bugis Junction, The Star Vista and Novena Square 2, were registered as permanently closed on Google Maps.

Itacho debuted in Singapore in July 2009. The company’s website and social media channels for the Singaporean locations have now been deactivated.

Having also left Hong Kong, the company, owned by Taste of Japan Group, has been winding up operations since the death of its founder Ricky Cheng in April 2024, aged 57.

The group previously operated Itamae Sushi, Ajisen Ramen, Pancake House, and Sushi Raku.
