Samsonite Group, the world’s leading luggage company, has entered into an agreement to acquire Béis, which was founded by Canadian actor Shay Mitchell.
The deal for the California-based travel brand will see an 85 per cent stake sold to Samsonite for US$178.5 million. It is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to approval. The Hong Kong Exchange-listed Samsonite said that Béis’ combined following of more than 2 million users across TikTok and Instagram aligns with its mission to strengthen digital capabilities.
“We’re excited to welcome Béis into our family of innovative and iconic brands,” said Kyle Gendreau, CEO of Samsonite Group.
“We see significant opportunities to accelerate Béis’ long-term growth, while preserving the entrepreneurship, creativity, and strong brand identity that have fueled the enterprise’s success since its founding.”
Shay Mitchell, who’s famed for her role in the long-running drama series Pretty Little Liars, founded Béis to create affordable and functional luggage, according to a past interview with Forbes.
“This is a dream come true. I’m so proud of what our small but mighty team has built over the past eight years,” said Mitchell, who now serves as chief creative officer of Béis.
“We’ve always dreamed big, and joining the Samsonite Group gives us the chance to dream even bigger. They’re truly the perfect partner – our strengths complement each other so well; together we can take Béis places we couldn’t have on our own.”
Béis reportedly generated around $210 million in revenue in fiscal 2025. Samsonite plans to expand its reach into new international markets. The brand’s current leadership team will remain in post, with Shay Mitchell retaining a 15 per cent stake.
Beach House Group, the majority shareholder of Béis, is selling its ownership stake as part of the transaction.
