French fashion brand Lacoste has ousted CEO Eric Vallat after just over a year, replacing him with his former boss, Thierry Guibert.
The leadership change took place shortly before the brand’s latest Paris fashion show at the end of last week, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Vallat was appointed CEO last June to elevate the brand’s market position and reduce low-margin wholesale. He ran high-end spirits maker Rémy Cointreau before joining the company.
A Lacoste spokesperson confirmed the company removed Vallat from the role, but did not disclose the reason. They added that Thierry Guibert will take the helm again.
Guibert had led the brand as CEO for more than a decade before stepping down last year. He is also the head of Maus Freres, Lacoste’s Swiss parent company.
The Reuters sources also said that Vallat’s departure was not linked to the company’s performance.
