Sekkisei to debut in US travel retail

Japanese beauty products brand Sekkisei is about to gain a foothold in US travel retail with an installation at T Galleria by DFS in Hawaii.

Part of a new strategic partnership between Sekkisei owner Kose Corporation of Tokyo and DFS Group, the venture takes shape with a Japanese sakura blossom tree in the ground-floor installation in Hawaii’s beauty hall.

The open-sell environment will offer travellers a choice of self-serve or personalised service. Complementing this will be the Sekkisei five-minute “brightening” facial offered within a semi-private consultation area. Exclusive travel retail value sets will be displayed offering options for self-purchase or gifting.

Sekkisei is implementing a strategic growth plan with the aim of becoming the number-one brightening brand worldwide. A revamped global campaign, “Where Brightening Begins”, will debut at T Galleria by DFS, Hawaii.

“We believe the time is now to capitalise on the tremendous growth of Sekkisei in Asia, and accelerate this momentum with expansion into travel retail and new markets,” says Kose CEO/president Kazutoshi Kobayashi.

Using oriental herbal ingredients for cosmetics, Sekkisei launched 30 years ago. Kose Corporation was founded in 1946 by Kozaburo Kobayashi and today has more than 6700 employees. With research and innovation at its core, Kose has more than 800 registered patents and a portfolio of 32 brands.
