Luxury retail icon Louis Vuitton has opened its unique Island Maison in Singapore’s Marina Bay. Linked to the Marina Bay Sands retail and casino complex on the edge of Marina Bay, the store with nautically themed striking glass and steel interiors is a prominent landmark. It is as much a giant sculpture as a retail store, giving visitors a unique and sophisticated shopping experience. The store was designed by award winning architect Peter Marino using stone used for harbours and sailboat
timber. The outdoor patio area appears like a deck of a luxurious yacht.
Yves Carcelle, Louis Vuitton CEO hosted an opening party last Friday (17 September) and the store began trading on Sunday.
In keeping with the nautical theme, the store highlights Louis Vuitton’s connections to the world of sailing through America’s Cup and Louis Vuitton Cup. To complement the theme, the store features “Made for Travel” range of men’s clothing.
The store’s ground floor displays men’s and women’s selection such as leather goods, shoes, ready to wear and accessories.
Shoppers can also travel inside a tunnel which showcases contemporary artwork. The tunnel is connected to Marina Bay Sands mall and Louis Vuitton bookstore where visitors can browse through curated cultural, design and art books.
A spiral staircase leads shoppers to a magnified space displaying fine and time pieces jewellery and exceptionally made leather bags.
Louis Vuitton opened its first store in Singapore in 1979.
“Singapore’s rich cultural history and artistic heritage, alongside its vibrant and exciting development makes it a natural home for a Louis Vuitton,” said Carcelle.
The Louis Vuitton in Island Maison is the brand’s fifth store in Singapore.
