Reliance Brands has acquired a 51-per-cent stake in India’s 35-year-old couture house Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla (AJSK) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1986 by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, the fashion house currently features three other labels – formal and wedding wear Asal by Abu Sandeep, womenswear Gulabo by Abu Sandeep and menswear label Mard by Abu Sandeep. AJSK is known for its cutting-edge quality and classically elegant style.

“With the support of Reliance Brands, we will be able to finally fulfil our ambition of global expansion,” said Abu Sandeep. “With this new venture, we hope to permanently place our craft where it belongs, at the best runways and racks across the world.”

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla will continue to lead the design and creative direction of the brand.

The partnership follows Reliance Brands’ joint venture with Indian fashion label Rahul Mishra in February, following a series of acquisitions deals made by sister company Reliance Retail during the past few months, including Clovia, Anamika Khanna and Manish Malhotra.
