Uniqlo opens largest Bangladesh store

Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo is opening its ninth store in Bangladesh.

Grameen Uniqlo, a joint venture between Fast Retailing and Grameen Bank Group’s Grameen Healthcare Trust, will open a new store at Jamuna Future Park shopping centre in Dhaka. The new location will be the largest in the country.

The JV produces the collection in Bangladesh using locally sourced materials, providing highly practical items – made by locals, for locals.

Profits of the Grameen Uniqlo stores are re-invested in the business within Bangladesh, to grow the network of stores. The initiative is part of Fast Retailing’s long-term commitment to address poverty, hygiene, environment, educational and gender inequality in the rapidly developing nation.
