Daiso Japan’s first Sydney store opens its doors on Friday at Chatswood’s Mandarin Centre.

It is the third Australian store for the Japanese discount retail giant.

Known in Japan as the 100 Yen store, everything in the Daiso Sydney store is priced at $2.80.

The Chatswood store is Daiso’s largest in the southern hemisphere at 1000sqm and stocks 10,000 product varieties – a total of more than 50,000 items. All products are designed in Japan and fully imported.

A special pre-opening of the store on Thursday saw hundreds of people lining for first access to the store, with queues snaking around and out of the Mandarin Centre onto the street.
