Tommy Bahama expands in Asia

Seattle-based clothier Tommy Bahama is planning rapid international expansion with stores to open in Singapore, Tokyo and Macau.

Tommy Bahama will open first Macau retail store at the Venetian Resort and Casino next month, to be followed by a store on Singapore’s Orchard Rd strip.

Meanwhile, Tokyo will get a Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Bar and Store in the Ginza district, expected to open early next year.

“Tommy Bahama has enjoyed significant growth in our direct to consumer business. Through our website and US-based stores, we’ve seen a pent up demand and opportunity for our brand internationally and feel that now is the time to pursue that expansion,” said Terry Pillow, CEO of the Tommy Bahama Group.

“Our parent company, Oxford Industries, has fully supported our investment and strategy to extend our brand internationally.”

Tommy Bahama also plans to enter other Asian markets including the cities of Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Established in 1992, Tommy Bahama defines a relaxed, sophisticated style in men’s and women’s sportswear, denim, swimwear, accessories and a complete home furnishings collection. The brand is owned and licensed by Oxford Industries, an international apparel company whose portfolio also includes Lilly Pulitzer, Ben Sherman, Arnold Brant and Oxford Golf.

Tommy Bahama has 96 retail locations across the US, 13 of which include restaurant and bar.
