Michael Kors opens China flagship

American fashion brand Michael Kors has finally opened its doors in Beijing with a new store at Shin Kong Place shopping mall.

The store, spread across 2400 sqft, is the brand’s fifth store in China, and its largest. Offerings include ready to wear from both the Michael Kors Collection and Michael Kors accessories.

“This city has such a fabulous energy. It has rapidly developed into a mecca for modern, cosmopolitan, global style, which makes it a perfect match for my design sensibility,” said designer Michael Kors.

More store openings are expected in China, the company targeting metropolitan locations such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang, Nanjing and Chengdu.

“We intend to open 15 stores in Greater China this year. Over the next three to five years, we will have 100 stores open in this market,” said Michael Kors Holdings chairman John Idol.

“We think we’re perfectly positioned to be one of the largest luxury-goods companies in China.”
