Michael Kors opens in Taiwan

American designer Michael Kors has opened his first store in Taiwan at Taipei 101.

Michael Kors CEO John Idol said the company is thrilled to open the 2800 sqft boutique which showcases more accessories than ready-to-wear. It is part of the brand’s rapid expansion plans in Greater China. The opening was celebrated with a fashion show featuring the designer’s fall collection.

Michael Kors said of the opening: “Taiwanese women are world travellers. They’ll love the sophisticated global style that will immerse them the minute they step into our new store. A city as chic and fast-paced as Taipei is a perfect match for Michael Kors.”

“Our footprint in Asia continues to grow. We had a successful launch in Hong Kong in 2011, followed by the recent strong debut of our Beijing flagship. Of course Taiwan is an essential part of any growth strategy in this region of the world so we’re thrilled to be opening our doors here,” added Idol.

Michael Kors sees an ambitious 100 store openings across Greater China over the next five years. As at end of 2011, the American luxury brand operates more than 230 in 74 countries.
