Longchamp, Dr Martens make Thai inroads

French leather goods brand Longchamp and British footwear brand Dr Martens have made their standalone store debuts in Thailand.

Longchamp’s new flagship store in Bangkok opened its doors a few weeks ago at the Siam Paragon shopping mall. Longchamp senior area manager for Asia Pacific, Mollie Jean de Dieu, said Thailand is the third largest market for Longchamp in Southeast Asia after Singapore and Indonesia.

Longchamp competes with global brands including Kate Spade and Coach.

Meanwhile, Dr Martens first Thai store is located at Megabangna shopping mall in Bangkok. The British brand plans to open three more stores at The Mall Bang Kapi, Central Silom Complex and Siam Paragon in the second half of this year.

Dr Martens in Thailand is franchised by OTT Footwear which will also open three Dr Martens mobile counters this year, in The Emporium, Sukhumvit, in Central Plaza, Chaengwattana, and in Central Plaza, Kad Suankaew, Chiang Mai.

OTT Footwear expects to sell 12,000 to 15,000 pairs with a total worth of 75 million baht (US$2.36 million) this year.
