Jatomi Fitness launches in Asia

Jatomi Fitness, a new international gym company, has opened its first two clubs in Asia – in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.

Both clubs were sourced and acquired on behalf of Jatomi by CBRE as their regional real estate consultants.

Jatomi Fitness is currently the most rapidly expanding fitness club operator in the world. Founded in Poland in 2008, it has grown to over 40 clubs around Central and Eastern Europe.

Chairman Mike Balfour, founded Fitness First back in 1998 and together with their CEO for Asia, Elaine Jobson, who previously was COO for Virgin Active in South Africa, they have experience in successfully running and expanding fitness clubs throughout the world.

Jatomi’s focus is on providing exciting, clean, friendly and stimulating clubs and they offer unique features and equipment not currently available in Asia.

The first club opened in Tropicana City Mall in Kuala Lumpur on the August 1, taking up about 18,000 sqft, with the second opening in Jakarta at Kunigan City three days later, comprising 21,000 sqft.

Working with CBRE’s offices in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, Jatomi has aggressive expansion plans for the region, with five more clubs planned to open in Malaysia within
the next year and with two more in Indonesia. CBRE is also currently actively searching for appropriate locations throughout Singapore, as well with further plans for the rest of South East Asia over the next few years.

CBRE is actively seeking prime sites for the gym brand and building an extensive pipeline of futures sites within the key markets.

John Sigler, VP of retail consultancy with CBRE Malaysia said there are plenty of opportunities throughout the region for a company such as Jatomi.

“We have been using our local market expertise to ensure that they are not only getting the best terms possible, but also only taking locations appropriate for their business needs. We
will continue to work closely with Jatomi, locating and acquiring many more sites for them over the next few years, as the company establishes itself as a major force within the region.”
