KFC opens 4000th China site

Yum! Brands-owned KFC has opened its 4000th restaurant in China, highlighting the company’s rapid growth as China’s largest restaurant company.

The 4000th restaurant – in Dalian – commemorates Yum! Brands 25th anniversary in the Chinese market.

Yum! has become the largest and fastest growing restaurant company in China by pursuing a broad-based development program supported by a supply chain infrastructure and more.

“KFC’s success in China is not only about the increase of store counts, but beyond that,” said Sam Su, chairman and CEO of China division, Yum! Brands.

“The transformation strategy of KFC is to connect deeply into consumers’ lives. KFC does more than sell products, it interacts with consumers in a meaningful way to become a welcomed part of their lives,” added Su.

KFC was the first quick service restaurant chain to enter China in 1987. In addition to original recipe chicken, KFC has an extensive menu featuring beef, seafood, rice dishes, fresh vegetables, soups, breakfast, desserts, and other products that appeal to Chinese consumers’ tastes.

Kentucky-based Yum! Brands is the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of system restaurants with nearly 38,000 restaurants in more than 120 countries and territories. The company’s restaurant brands include KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
