10 Corso Como plans China invasion

Italy’s 10 Corso Como has forged a partnership to take advantage of China’s burgeoning retail economy.

10 Corso Como and Guangzhou-based Trendy International Group have joined forces to bring the 10CC concept to China for the first time, with a store in Shanghai planned to open in 2013.

Opening on Nanjing West Rd, the 2500 sqm 10 Corso Como Shanghai store will be designed by world-renowned painter, sculptor and concept artist, Kris Ruhs.

Founded in 1990 in Milan by style visionary Carla Sozzani, 10 Corso Como created a lifestyle destination which presents a blend of art, music, fashion, design, cuisine and culture. Promoting its philosophy of ‘slow shopping’, 10 Corso Como aims to build a community around an appreciation of images, objects and ideas.

With its first store in Shanghai, 10 Corso Como will offer Chinese consumers choices “to inspire and provoke curiosity”, the company says. A consistent flow of new designers, artists and writers will be brought to the public’s attention, offering fresh ideas on a sophisticated lifestyle.

Trendy International Group has built a reputation as designer, distributor and retailer of China’s women’s fashion lines Ochirly and Five Plus, as well as the men’s fashion brand Trendiano and children’s brand Love Ysabel. With close to 2000 retail outlets, Trendy International Group is owned by L Capital, the investment arm of LVMH.

The Milan-headquartered 10 Corso Como has also presence in Japan through collaboration with Comme des Garçons and South Korea through Samsung Group.
