Cynthia Rowley opens in Seoul

US fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has made its debut in South Korea.

The designer has opened a store in Seoul’s Gangnam District. The store, spans 1400 sqft and offers the designer’s wide range of apparel, accessories and jewellery.

The fashion design brand is run by local partner Seokyung which also retails US clothing brand True Religion.

Seokyung plans to open 10 Cynthia Rowley stores in South Korea by 2014, comprising standalone stores and shops-in-shops.

Cynthia Rowley is also present in Japan and Taiwan. The brand’s president, Peter Arnold, is confident that the Korean business will be as successful as its businesses in the other two countries.

“What I’ve learned is it’s a very developed market and you have a very sophisticated customer in South Korea,” said Arnold.

He said the fashion designer is known for her unexpected use of color and very unique prints.

“It’s something women find appealing and is different from what is there now,” he said.
