Lulu to debut in India

Dubai-based retail group Lulu will finally open its first shopping mall in India in March after several delays.

The mall, located in Kochi, Kerala, had cost Lulu 16 billion rupees and is said to be one of the country’s largest malls. It will include an ice rink, cinema, hypermarket, restaurants, stores and a bowling alley.

The developer is also building a Marriott hotel within the complex.

In its statement, Lulu said Kochi, acknowledged as the gateway to Kerala, is perhaps the most significant city on the country’s west coast after Mumbai.

Lulu plans to invest 40 billion rupees more in India over the few years, it says.
