Bubble tea chain plans big in Japan

Taiwanese bubble tea chain Comebuy plans to open 100 stores in Japan over the next three years.

Comebuy entered the market in February and now has three stores.

It sells Taiwanese traditional tea drinks including the chewy tapioca balls in a tea base with milk. Its current overseas markets include Singapore, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Germany and the US.

“We’ve been focusing quite a lot on our overseas presence,” said assistant marketing manager Candy Chang.

It also plans to take the brand to France, Czech Republic, the UK and India.
