Delhi rules India’s e-commerce trade

Delhi has emerged as the top e-commerce hub in India, according to a survey by eBay India.

Following Delhi were Mumbai, Jaipur, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. According to the census, electronics (48 per cent) such as mobile handsets were the most popularly purchased items by volume, followed by lifestyle items (41 per cent), including watches and body care products.

South Korea’s Samsung was the most-purchased brand, followed by Apple, Sony, Nokia, SanDisk and Blackberry.

The US was India’s largest transaction partner, followed by the UK, Australia, China and Canada.

The California-headquartered online marketplace said its sellers in India have increased to 30,000 in 2012 from 23,000 in 2011.
