Five Star Chicken in Asian expansion

Thai fast food chain Five Star Chicken plans to add Singapore and Malaysia to its Asian operations.

Five Star Chicken, a subsidiary of Charoen Pokphand Group, currently operates in six Asian countries.

“We want to be a top chicken brand in Asia as it will be in line with our subsidiary Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF),” said Sanjeev Pant, VP of branded food at Charoen Pokphand (India).

The chain has 5000 outlets in Thailand, which makes the local market mature for it, hence, the plans to expand more offshore.

“That’s why we must expand our business to overseas,” Pant said.

Besides, plans to enter new Asian markets, Five Star Chicken also plans to expand in its existing markets like India. It says it will open 500 outlets in India in five years, in addition to its existing 20 outlets.

It plans to add 500 more street stands in Vietnam where it currently has 20.
