M-commerce growing

Mobile shopping is gaining more and more acceptance among consumers.

A recent study by First Data Corp-ICICI Merchant Services says that 65 per cent of 4000 respondents in 10 countries including India and China are using their mobile devices for shopping.

It has also been found out that 81 per cent of them are turning to social media to seek advice prior to purchasing.

Around 79 per cent of the respondents have at least one retailer app on their mobile devices.

“Mobile commerce today is a platform to take e-commerce to the masses, something that works for everyone,” study says.

The study also revealed that more and more Indians are embracing online banking. More than half of the respondents say that debit cards and credit cards are safe to use for paying online (56 per cent and 51 per cent, respectively).

Nearly half of the Indian respondents (49 per cent) believe in the security of in-store mobile payments.

Meanwhile, 68 per cent have downloaded their banks’ apps on their mobile devices.
