Belle takes stake in Baroque

Hong Kong company Belle International Holdings is exploring beyond the footwear business by investing in Japanese apparel and accessories retailer Baroque.

Belle’s subsidiary Pu Crown has acquired a 31.96 per cent stake in Baroque for HK$732.9 million (US$93.96 million).

Being a minority owner of Baroque, Belle will develop the brand in China.

Baroque was established in 2000 and had operated 348 stores throughout Japan, Hong Kong, and mainland China.

Belle says the new investment will provide an opportunity for the company to expand its reach in the Chinese fashion industry.
