Prada expands Chinese footprint

Italian luxury label Prada has expanded its presence in China with two new stores.

The stores – one in Shanghai and one Tianjin – were both designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi.

The Shanghai store is located at IAPM Mall and spans 1250 sqm over two levels. It is the brand’s fourth store in the city.

Its 65 metres long outer storefront – which pays tribute to the artist Carlos Cruz-Diez – is clad in burnished and matte gold helical metal panels, which follow the contour of the tower on the right side of the mall’s entrance, rising for 35 metres.

It offers men’s and women’s collection, ready-to-wear collection, footwear and men’s “made to measure” collection.

While the Tianjin store occupies a retail area of about 950 sqm on a single level at Galaxy Mall and offers the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, bags, accessories and footwear collections.

Its facade, also a tribute to artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, features a black marble base framing six wide light boxes.
