Thai restaurant expands in the Philippines

Thai restaurant group Mango Tree plans to grow its presence in the Philippines with eight new outlets planned by 2015.

The group, currently has four outlets in the country under brands Mango Tree, Mango Tree Bistro and Coca Cafe. The expansion is aimed at achieving a turnover of 300 million pesos ($22.7 million) by 2015 from 150 million pesos ($11.3 million) currently.

“We want to expand in the Philippines because we think the Philippine economy will still grow much faster,” said CEO Pitaya Phanphensophon.

Later this month, two Coca Cafe outlets will open at SM Jazz in Makati and SM South Mall in Las Piñas City.

The company also looks to open beyond Metro Manila in locations such as Cebu, Davao and Baguio.
