Kiton plans India stores

Italian luxury brand Kiton plans to open at least two exclusive stores in India.

The brand, which makes made-to-measure suits, jackets and shirts, entered India last year through a master franchisee deal with Mumbai-based Regalia Luxury Clothing.

“We soon plan to open mono-brand stores in India as it is a great market to tap into,” said Kiton CEO Antonio De Matteis.

Kiton is also in talks to convert the partnership into a joint venture.

The brand, with 45 exclusive stores around the world, said global sales in 2013 rose 10 per cent.

Consultancy firm Technopak said India offers bright prospects for luxury menswear brands.

“As Indian economy moves up and becomes more international, Indian businessmen and senior executives have started spending more than ever on their business wardrobe,” said Arvind Singhal, chairman at Technopak.
