SuperGroup in Asian expansion

British retailer SuperGroup plans expanding overseas including into Asia Pacific.

This year will see the company launch dedicated online shops in Taiwan, Australia and Korea.

The SuperDry parent currently has 17 dedicated country websites, including one in China which opened last year.

While the company accelerates its presence online in different countries, it is also expanding aggressively offline. It says 80 per cent of its new stores will be opened overseas.

“We see material potential to stretch the brand into new areas as well as grow the brand online and internationally where it is still early days in the roll-out story,” said Kate Calvert, analyst at banking and asset management group Investec.

While like-for-like sales in 13 weeks to January 26 have slowed, SuperGroup CEO Julian Dunkerton says the company is on track to deliver profit in line with market expectations.
