Thailand’s HomePro eyes Malaysia

Thai home improvement retailer HomePro plans to expand into Malaysia, its first overseas venture.

HomePro said it is planning to debut in the neighbouring country by November this year, and open 40 stores over the next decade.

It will also continue expanding its domestic presence by investing up to 10 billion baht ($307.3 million) to open 10 new stores, under HomePro and Mega Home brands.

The company plans to increase its HomePro and Mega Home store count to 80 by 2015 and 20 by 2017, respectively, from current 64 and three.

“With the branch expansion, now we can cover all groups of customers – homeowners, project owners and construction material shops,” said president Khunawut Thumpomkul.
