“Interactive” stores to open at Changi

Travel retailer Shilla has signed architecture, interior and creative services firm RTKL to open “interactive” cosmetics and perfume stores in Singapore’s Changi Airport.

RTKL and Shilla have also partnered with MIT Mobile Experience Lab to design the new store concepts.

The 23 stores will be scattered in four terminals and will feature “cutting-edge retail technology”.

“Changi is known for being one of the most innovative airports in the world. The Changi Airport Authority always goes a step beyond what its competitors are doing and our concept reflects that with an interactive, one-of-a-kind customer experience that will set Shilla’s stores apart,” said RTKL VP Kevin Horn.

The stores are projected to bring in US$4 billion into the airport over the six-year lease period.
