Sephora plans more India stores

French beauty retailer Sephora plans to open seven new stores in India in 2014.

Sephora Southeast Asia GM Afif Haddar said the focus of expansion would be major cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune.

The openings are part of its plan to become a big player in India’s beauty industry with 50 stores by 2018.

The retailer, owned by luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, opened its first India store in Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall in January 2013. It later opened a second in the city’s DLF Promenade mall.

Founded in 1970, Sephora offers cosmetics, fragrances and personal care products through 1300 stores in 27 countries worldwide.
