Foodpanda expands reach

Foodpanda is to expand its food delivery service to 50 new markets, including Indian cities, by June.

The Rocket Internet-backed food delivery service is financially confident to expand reach after raising $20 million from investors including iMENA Holdings and Phenomenon Ventures.

Areas of expansion will include Southeast Asia, Middle East, Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, Australia and India.

Foodpanda plans to launch its platform in 30 new Indian cities to take advantage of the consumers shifting from physical to digital channels.

“We’re looking to double our presence globally, as well as in India, by the second quarter of the year,” said Foodpanda co-founder and MD Rohit Chadda.

Foodpanda was founded in 2012 and has partnerships with more than 25,000 restaurants globally.
