Royal Selangor eyes Chinese growth

Malaysian pewter maker Royal Selangor plans to take a share of the expanding Chinese retail market.

Chen Tien Yue, executive director of Royal Selangor marketing, told CNBC they’re seeking collaborations in China, which it described as a vibrant country with huge potential, to set up a retail presence there.

“There are not many brands out there, especially in Asia, with such a long and authentic heritage so that gives us a good base to expand into new markets,” Chen told CNBC.

Founded in 1885, family business Royal Selangor currently has 50 stores in countries including Japan and Australia.
