Walmart names new Asia chief

Wal-Mart Stores has named its new head of Asian operations.

Scott Price, executive VP of international strategy and business development, will take on additional responsibility as president and CEO of Walmart Asia, based at Walmart’s global headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The role has been vacant since July when the previous CEO, Australian Greg Foran, was promoted to president and CEO of Walmart’s US operations.

Price regains responsibility for the company’s operations in China, Japan and India, after previously leading the division from 2009 through 2014.

Before joining Walmart, Scott served as CEO of DHL Express Europe and prior to that was CEO of DHL Express Asia Pacific and president of DHL Express Japan, DHL’s largest market in the Asia Pacific region.

Before joining DHL, Scott spent a decade with the Coca-Cola Company, during which time he held various roles, including country leader in Japan and director and regional manager in China.

Walmart has nearly 130,000 staff and more than 850 stores and ecommerce websites in China, Japan and India.
