Retail Holdings debuts in Cambodia

Retail Holdings, controlling shareholder of Singer Asia, has opened its first consumer electronics and furniture store in Cambodia.

Singer, which already has operations in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand, says the Singer Mega-branded store has opened in Battambang. Two more stores will open in the developing nation in early 2015 with the end goal of 50 appliance stores within three years.

Retail Holdings says its Cambodian store is the largest household consumer durable store in the country, stocking electronics, furniture and selected commercial products for small businesses. Consumer credit and other financial services will be available to qualified customers.

“Cambodia has one of the fastest growth rates in the region, which together with the continued development of the economy, represents a significant opportunity for expansion, building on the company’s experience and market leadership in a number of other Asian markets,” Retail NV said in a statement.
