Aeon has opened its first shopping mall in Indonesia, in a southwestern district of Jakarta called BSD.
With 280 specialty stores, 140 restaurants and a food court which seats 1100, Aeon Mall BSD City is the suburb’s largest and an indication of the importance Aeon places on Indonesia as a future growth market.
Of the retail tenants, 47 comes from Japan and 25 are making their Indonesian debut.
Last year, Japanese-headquartered Aeon opened its first malls in Vietnam and Cambodia, this year its first in Indonesia, evidence of a long term commitment to expanding in southeast Asia, taking advantage of the ASEAN AEC community which comes into effect this year.
In Indonesia, Aeon has partnered with Sinar Mas Land Ltd, one of Indonesia’s major real estate developers, to progress its expansion. Aeon Indonesia’s Aeon Mall BSD City is located at Jl. BSD Raya Utama Kelurahan Pagedangan, Kecamatan Pagedangan Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten
The centre has approximately 77,000sqm of leased floor space.
The ground floor is home to two distinct zones: Café Street & Food Culture the Active Sports zone. Tenants include Liberica Coffee, the first branch of the Indonesian chain to open in Banten, Starbucks Coffee, South Korea’s Caffe Bene, which now boasts more than 1100 branches throughout Asia, and the first Indonesian branch of Japan’s DEel ‘Immo, a café serving sweets that is known for its Daikanyama Rolls.
The first floor provides fashions, with a focus on overseas brands – Japan’s Uniqlo, with a 2500sqm store, Sweden’s H&M, Singapore’s Charles & Keith, England’s Clarks and Hush Puppies.
The second floor features the region’s largest Kids’ World as well as casual fashion and goods surrounding Aeon BSD City Store Kids’ World, with facilities and shops to delight children, including the Miniapolis kids’ amusement facility and stores that are very popular locally, such as Multi Toys N Game and Toys City. Snoopy Baby, with a full line-up of clothes and goods featuring the cute Snoopy for babies through to older kids makes its debut.
Third floor features include entertainment, casual dining and a food court, anchored by a 10 screen cinema run by Cinema XXI and an Amazone game center. A home appliances and home center is anchored by Japan’s Best Denki store, occupying a 1900 sqm space.
Restaurants are also located there, including Kenny Rogers Roasters and Indonesia’s Begor Pondok Suryo restaurant.
