Fans of Hello Kitty who – well, just cannot get enough of her – can now dine out on her image.
What’s billed as the world’s first Hello Kitty themed restaurant has opened in Hong Kong, featuring a comprehensive menu of 37 different dishes which bear the mouthless, moon-shaped cartoon character’s face.

The new venue is called Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine restaurant and located in the Yau Ma Tei district of Kowloon, where it is already proving a hit – just as early themed facilities like Eva Air’s Hello Kitty themed airplane and the Hello Kitty hotel in Japan.

The restaurant opened after “years’ of negotiations between the restaurateur Man Kwong and the owner of the Hello Kitty brand rights, Japan’s Sanrio.
The menu offers such tasty morsels as dim sum, dumplings and steamed buns dressed in pink bowties (the pink comes from beetroot juice; beady black eyes from squid ink).

While fans already in the know are lining up for the Hello Kitty dining experience the restaurant does not formally open until June 1.
