HKIA retail offer to be expanded

The HKIA retail offer is set to be expanded, with more stores and dining options planned for Terminal 1’s West Hall.
In an interview with The Moodie Report, Hong Kong International Airport executive director of commercial Cissy Chan promises more variety in the West hall space.
“The West Hall retail zone is a key node inside Terminal 1 where the spending potential of passengers can be further capitalised [upon],” Chan said in an interview.
“The zone will be positioned as a one stop shopping destination in the future. Through optimising the shop sizes, increasing shop numbers and introducing new categories such as gifts, souvenirs and toys, a more refined trade mix will be developed with strategic clustering to better cater to passenger needs.
“With food being intrinsic in Hong Kong’s culture, the catering choices in the zone will also be broadened.”
The full interview is published in the September print edition of The Moodie Report, which will be distributed at the Trinity Forum in Hong Kong, hosted by the HKIA.
Meanwhile, a commercial plan is being developed for the new Midfield Concourse scheduled to open late this year which will feature 20 aircraft parking stands.
Chan said the airport has focused on creating “a sense of place” at HKIA adding a distinctly local flavour by opening the I Love Hong Kong retail zone featuring 14 local brands.
“Each store in the area carries a strong Hong Kong element, from merchandise to fit-out to staff uniforms to packaging. We will continue to instil an authentic Hong Kong touch into our retail mix.”
