A giant Shenzhen discount store opens next week, promising discounts of up to 50 per cent on supermarket prices.
Billed as Shenzhen’s largest direct sales center for imported goods, it opens on September 25 in the Yantian Bonded Area across the border from Hong Kong.
According to the Shenzhen Daily, the 70,000 sqm store will sell 10,000 different products, at prices generally 15 to 20 per cent lower than grocery chains. But some lines will be discounted by as much as 50 per cent.
It’s called called Jingmao City and is a model project leading the transformation of bonded areas in Shenzhen.
It will focus on imported goods and targets the fast-growing cross-border eCommerce market.
Its online-to-offline (O2O) business model means customers can purchase goods at the center or order online and have the purchases delivered to their home or workplace.
