With a little monkey business, an Australian retailer’s Chinese New Year promotion in Singapore became a hit on Instagram, reaching more than 80,000 users within three days.

Fast-fashion retailer Cotton On Singapore kicked off its Monkey Business campaign in front of its Orchard Rd store at 313 Somerset with promoters dressed as monkeys on yellow banana bikes.

Shoppers are being encouraged to share their cheekiest monkey smile on Instagram, with all #CNYCottonOnSG hashtags putting them in the draw for a S$288 ($200) voucher. The voucher draws continue every week until February 10.

More than 400 cheeky monkey pictures have been posted, and the promotion continues across the city every Friday and Saturday with DJs, the cheeky promoters, and lots of “monkey business” around the group’s outlets.

Shoppers can snap their cheeky monkey smiles at photo booths in Cotton On Singapore stores at 313 Somerset, Bugis Junction, Suntec and Vivo City.

Australian-headquartered Cotton On has more than 1400 stores across 16 countries.
