With eCommerce giant Taobao.com hitting the revenue of traditional offline outlets in China, two electronics retailers, Gome and RT-Mart, plan to join forces to capture more online action.
Gome’s website Gome.com.cn and RT-Mart’s eCommerce business Feiniu.com are docking their background systems so their respective websites can merge product ranges.
All products on Feiniu.com are expected to be officially available on Gome.com.cn this month, when more details about the co-operation will be announced.
Their online merger is being achieved progressively, starting with aligning their background ordering systems and data. RT-Mart will open a supermarket channel on Gome.com.cn, while Gome will launch a 3C (computer, communications and consumer electronics) products and home appliances channel on Feiniu.com.
Financial terms of the deal have not been made public.
