Global Brands Group signs Katy Perry, Kenneth Cole

As well as creating a JV to become the world’s largest brand-management business, Global Brands Group Holding (GBG) has signed deals with singer Katy Perry and American designer Kenneth Cole.
Meanwhile, its turnover grew by 8.4 per cent to about US$704.1 million for the three months ended June 30.
Its partnership with Perry is for a footwear collection, released this month, while its licensing agreement with Kenneth Cole is to develop products under his brand in the men’s, women’s and children’s apparel as well as handbag categories.
Its JV, with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA), CAA-GBG Brand Management Group, will be a global brand-extension platform for brands and clients across the celebrity, corporate, lifestyle and character brand spaces.
Despite a challenging retail environment, the group’s turnover was up 8.4 per cent compared to its US$649.5 million for the corresponding three months last year.
In June, the company announced its audited consolidated financial results for the 15 months from January 1 last year to March 31 following the change of its financial year-end date from December 31.
