First overseas flagship for 8 Seconds

Korean fast-fashion brand 8 Seconds, from Samsung C&T’s fashion division, opens its first overseas flagship store in downtown Shanghai tomorrow (September 30).

The brand’s name reflects its philosophy that its distinctive styles grab attention in just eight seconds. Since launching in 2012, the brand has grown to 30 stores in Korea and opened an online store for China on Tmall in May.

The brand’s two-storey shop, covering 3300 sqm, will not only showcase the label’s complete range, but also offer seven K-style cosmetics, accessories and stationery brands.

“The China market has huge potential for us,” says 8 Seconds retail director Harry Park. “We want to bring the most authentic Korean lifestyle and fashion style to China consumers.”

Singer G-Dragon of South Korean boy band Big Bang is 8 Seconds’ model for both the home market and China. The label has produced two collections in a collaboration with the entertainer, which have taken more than 3.3 billion won (US$3.02 million) in sales in one month.
