Bulgogi Brothers becomes third chain to quit Malaysia

Korean barbeque restaurant Bulgogi Brothers has quit Malaysia – the third international F&B chain to close shop in the nation within three months.

“We would like to thank all our customers throughout the years for their unwavering support. It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve all of you,” was how Bulgogi Brothers Malaysia announced its closure on Facebook.

Bulgogi Brothers Malaysia launched in Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya, in 2012. It later opened outlets in eCurve, Mid Valley Megamall and Pavilion.

Just two days before the Bulgogi announcement, Hong Kong’s Tim Ho Wan dim sum restaurant franchise closed its two restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, in Mid Valley Megamall and at 1 Utama Shopping Mall.

Two months ago, Korean bakery chain Tous Les Jours also shut down its outlets in Malaysia. It launched in 2013 and had stores in Bangsar, Empire Damansara, Wolo Bukit Bintang and Subang’s Empire Shopping Gallery.

Like Bulgogi Brothers, the Tous Les Jours closure announcement was made on its Facebook page, taking both customers and staff by surprise, reports FMT News.
