Starbucks Japan launches loyalty program

Starbucks Japan has launched a loyalty program offering members exclusive and personalised benefits.

Members can earn stars with each visit toward an e-ticket that can be redeemed for food and drinks.

Starbucks Japan CEO Takafumi Minaguchi says that with more than 5 million connections in its stores each week it wants to reward regular customer with special experiences both in and outside the stores. The rewards program has been designed specifically for Japanese customers.

Starbucks Rewards offers instant rewards. When a customer joins the program they gain immediate access to such benefits as early access to new products, limited-edition merchandise and exclusive events, sneak peeks into promotions and even a special, member-only price on “One More Coffee” purchases on the same day.

With their cards, members can also collect stars on all in-store purchases. These can be redeemed for rewards such as food, drinks and packaged coffee.

To mark the launch, the company has launched a “Catch the Magic Stars” campaign with more than 55,000 prizes on offer to members within the first month. To join the program, customers can apply via the Starbucks app or register their Starbucks Card online.
