Kumoya hosting Care Bears pop-up cafe

Singapore is about to host The Care Bears – as a themed pop-up cafe at Kumoya, along Jalan Klapa.

Originally painted for greeting cards in 1981, the multi-coloured bear characters later became an animated TV series. This is the first time they have become a cafe theme in Southeast Asia, reports Daniel Food Diary.

It is not the first pop-up concept collaboration for Kumoya, Singapore’s first Halal-certified Japanese-French cafe. It has previously hosted the Miffy and Cinnamoroll Cafes.

For the Care Bears pop-up, from February 1 to the end of March, the menu has been curated and styled by food stylist Shirley Wong (Little Miss Bento) and the Kumoya team. Wong is also menu consultant at Gudetama Cafe Singapore, Suntec City.

Dishes at Care Bears will include chicken-and-corn sticks with nacho cheese, chicken karaage with shoyu glaze, salted egg-yolk fries, seafood chowder rice, chicken katsu burger, waffles and a strawberry parfait, all with Care Bear decorations.

There is a minimum spend for the pop-up, and dining time may be limited to 90 minutes.
