Crystal Jade San Francisco restaurant shuttered

The  Crystal Jade San Francisco restaurant has closed down after less than four years in business.

The 20,000sqft location, which opened after a US$14 million refurbishment, has been sold to another restaurant.

Crystal Jade San Francisco was opened in 2014 by Singapore-based Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Holdings as its first expansion outside of Asia, where it has 21 restaurants. Private equity fund L Capital Asia under French luxury brand LVMH backed the move.

Despite the bold investment, reviewers criticised the restaurant for slow service and poor management. A spokesperson for the group claims that these issues had been resolved before the owners were approached by another potential leaseholder, and that the sale of the asset allowed the group to pursue other US expansion plans.
