Link malls celebrate Beyblade anniversary

Eleven Link malls will collaborate between July 8 and August 18 to host a contest marking the 20th anniversary of the Beyblade Burst.

The Link x Beyblade Burst G + Bakugan Battle Planet Match Tour, will see  Hong Kong’s top Beybladers vie for the inaugural Link Trophy in front of fans. 

Beyblade is a line of spinning top toys originally developed and manufactured by Takara Tomy, first released in Japan in July 1999. According to Wikipedia, the main premise of the series is that the beyblade is customisable, with interchangeable parts. Both the toys and their name were inspired by “Beigoma”, a traditional spinning top.

The Link event will feature the Hong Kong debut of two giant Beyblade Burst G and Bakugan Battle Planet-themed installations, offering an Insta-ready scenes for fans of the characters. 

The event is aimed at attracting families to the mall with the competition open to children aged six to 13. 

Each of the malls hosting the event will feature Beyblade Burst and Bakugan pop-up stores during competitions days.

The final of the Link Trophy contest will be held on August 18 at Lok Fu Place. 

And to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyblade Burst, Link will equip Beybladers with the heavy-duty Link x Beyblade Burst Carryall to hold all their gear. 

The 11 malls participating in the tournament are Oi Tung Shopping Centre, Homantin Plaza & Market, Lok Fu Place & Market, Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre, Wo Che Plaza & Market, Tai Wo Plaza, Cheung Fat Plaza, Fu Tung Plaza and Market, Yat Tung Shopping Centre, Lei Yue Mun Plaza, and TKO Gateway and Market.
