Japanese supermarket Meidi-Ya plans two-storey flagship in Singapore

Premium Japanese supermarket chain Meidi-Ya is to open its largest store yet in Singapore this month.

Located at Millenia Walk, the flagship store spans two stories, occupies a 24,000sqft area and is scheduled to open on November 25, hosting a bakery, food hall and Japanese restaurant.

“The flagship outlet at Millenia Walk will house well-loved Japanese products and international brands in its supermarket,” said Nagoshi Shuji, MD of Meidi-Ya Singapore. “With this, we hope to provide our customers with a unique shopping experience that will immerse them in the authentic Japanese culture, and ensure customer satisfaction through good quality products, quality service and atmosphere.”

The Meidi-Ya Millenia Walk houses five highlighted areas – an 88-seat Japanese concept cafe & bar with alfresco dining space, Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza, Gokoku Japanese Bakery, the food hall and supermarket.

The bakery, also located on level 1, is the first Gokoku outlet in Singapore to feature a dine-in cafe. The second floor features the supermarket, offering a wide range of authentic Japanese products and merchandise from international brands.

“Millenia Walk is a retail haven for the discerning shopper who appreciates inspirational lifestyle products, quality offerings and gastronomic adventures,” said Melanie Yeap, Millenia Walk spokesperson.

“We believe that Meidi-Ya’s new flagship outlet will complement our curated retail mix and international food and beverage outlets with many unique Japanese brands.”
