Japanese department store Isetan has closed its outlet in Kuala Lumpur’s 1 Utama Shopping Centre after 10 years of trading there.

The store sells fashion, lifestyle, household and beauty products. The retailer took to Facebook to announce the store closure.

“As we physically bid goodbye at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our loyal customers for the unconditional support and patronage over the years,” the statement said.

Eateries within the store in Eat Paradise such as Tonkatsu, Ichiro, and Menya Musashi will also be closed.

The company has revealed that the remaining outlets in Suria KLCC, The Gardens Mall, and The Japan Store Lot 10 will remain open and patrons can continue to shop online as well.

Isetan was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It also operates throughout the country as well as in several South-East Asian countries including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Tianjin. In recent years it closed its long-standing store in Bangkok’s Central World.
