Fast-growing South Korean restaurant chain Goobne Chicken is stepping into the heartland of the global fast-food industry – opening its first store in the US.

The restaurant is located in the Korean supermarket Hannam Chain Del Amo in Torrance, Los Angeles and serves different flavours of Korean-style chicken, as well as Korean cocktails in a K-pop-themed setting.

Goobne Chicken CEO Chung Tae-yong claims the company also intends to open a second location in the US later this year.

Goobne Chicken made its Australian debut in 2019, with plans to open quick-service restaurant locations throughout Sydney. The first company-owned store opened at Darling Harbour, a second in Zetland.

The company was founded in 2005 and has since grown to more than 1000 locations throughout its native South Korea. It also has stores throughout Asia, including in Hong Kong, China, Macau, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

According to the company, Goobne Chicken is known for “healthy chicken,” which has less trans fat, carbohydrates, sodium, and calories because it is cooked without using oil, yet maintains the flavour of the chicken.

The company belongs to the worldwide Chatime Group.
